The Natural Beauty of Motherhood | Outdoor Maternity Session in Bodega Bay

If you’re a mother who has ever wondered how you could possibly love a second or third child as much as you do your first, take my word as someone who has photographed countless mothers, you have nothing to worry about!  Holly came to me for maternity photos for her third baby, and the excitement she has for her baby boy on the way was clear right away.  The love she has for her babies came through beautifully during her Bodega Bay maternity session! 

Coastal Maternity Photoshoot

The coast is the perfect location for maternity shoots during the summer months for many reasons.  The coast provides a reprieve from the heat to keep expectant mothers comfortable while lending beautiful, scenic backgrounds to the shots.  Holly and I collaborated on styling this shoot, and I’m so glad she was open to showing some skin! Not only did it keep her cooler, I love when clients are receptive to showing off their beautiful baby bumps.

Earthy Motherhood Session

The neutral tones and movement of the fabric featured on the pieces we chose created a very earthy, natural feel for the photos that complemented Holly’s natural beauty and radiant pregnancy glow.  We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day! The timing of this session was also spot on, as we were able to incorporate both the golden sunlight just before sunset along with the deepening blue sky at blue hour.  Scenery aside, Holly and Dominic were such naturals at posing with their little ones.

Everyone in their family was thrilled to be taking part in the session and it showed.  They were all such active participants and nailed the more natural, candid shots.  It was almost as if they forgot I was there at times and just enjoyed their opportunity to enjoy a beautiful summer evening together.  When it came to his family, Dominic was the epitome of an affectionate, doting father and it’s clear that the baby boy they’re expecting will be no exception!

Together, we created a gallery of bold, emotional images that equally capture the beauty of Holly’s pregnancy and the excitement this family has for their baby boy.  My goal as a California maternity photographer is always to make my clients feel not only comfortable but beautiful in their own skin as we celebrate the miracle of new life together through photos to commemorate this emotional, exciting experience.  It was such an honor to be able to do just that for Holly, Dominic, and their beautiful little ones!
